Contributing To A Sierra Leone Charity

By Rebecca Stevens

Charity work is a noble endeavor. The men and women who do charity work deserve the respect of every member of society. The world needs more givers. It needs more selfless people who are ready to make the world a better place through acts of selflessness. There is great blessing in giving. Charity is one of the greatest acts of humanity. A Sierra Leone charity is a non-profit organization that is in the business of improving lives all over Sierra Leone. More than ninety percent of contributions received by this organization go directly to charitable work.

Sierra Leone is a fragile country. A former British colony, this country has had only a few years of political stability. For the better part of its history, it has been in war and conflict. This has left the social and political systems completely broken. Citizens have been left without means and most of them are facing a hopeless life situation.

Giving to charity is one of the best things that a person can do. It shows that someone cares. It does not make sense for others to suffer when one is in a position to help but he is not doing any helping. That will simply be lacking a heart. Africa has made a lot of progress over the years but there are still Africans suffering.

The problem of poverty is a major one. A person does not have to visit the remotest parts of Africa or Asia so that to be able to see the ugly face of poverty. As a matter of fact, poverty is still in some places in the United States of America. Living in poverty is living a precarious life.

A famous Bangladeshi social entrepreneur had a message for the world when he was receiving his Noble Peace Prize. He said that it should reach a time when poverty should only belong to the museums. This is something that can easily be achieved through charitable work that fosters a culture of entrepreneurship in very underprivileged societies in the developing world.

A cash contribution is welcomed. Most charitable organizations in Sierra Leone and other parts of Africa have serious cash flow problems. Thus, they require urgent cash contributions. One does not need to have a million dollars so that to contribute. Even the smallest contribution is welcomed. It is all about giving from the heart and not from the abundance of possessions.

Of course, a person should contribute according to his means. If one is in a position to contribute ten dollars or even a hundred dollars there is totally no reason why he should contribute a dollar. Cash is not the only form of contributing. There is also contributing in kind. One can contribute clothes, shoes, books, food, and other supplies.

Charitable organizations have lifted many people from poverty. There is a lot of evidence that there are some charities that are doing really good work. On the other hand, there are those that are giving the great act of charity a bad name because of their fraudulent activities. With some research work, one will find the most trustworthy charities.
