Things To Note About The Old Covenant Vs New Covenant

By Marci Glover

The bible, which is an important boos in your spiritual life, has numerous promises that range from the former to the current ones. Nonetheless, you may not discover them if you are not a frequent reader of this great book. Actually, the promises in this book of law are not the same but they apply in the entire humanity. You therefore need to begin to learn more about the old covenant vs new covenant.

The simplest most significant difference to note would be that the former promise was meant for the people of Israel whereas the current one is with all humanity. It would be good idea to take note of this since you are part of humanity and thus affected by this agreement. It is no longer considered as just for the Israelites when God speaks to humanity.

You would also note names of two great men featuring in both covenants. The former one coma with Moses as you would in the scriptures. However, it is amazing to learn that the current one came with Jesus Christ. This is worth noting so that you do not mix the two covenants and get confused. You would also discover that the promises that with the birth of Christ are for the good and welfare of all tribes across the world.

In the current testament, Jesus is the hero, who came from the heaven to bare the sins of the world. He was born by a virgin marry, he latter suffered under pintos pirate. He was later crucified for our sins. On the third day, he came from dead and he is a motivation to many Christians.

The former testament records of the harsh punishments that lawbreakers were subjected to. A lot of death and suffering is recorded due to brutal laws. However, in the current generation, Jesus came to save the captive of sin. He criticizes harsh laws that did not add up to morality. At one point, he even challenged a mob that was ready to stone a woman who was caught committing adultery. He came to rescue the slaves of sin.

If you are observant, you will note that in the former testament, the society had many imperfect laws that was not fair to people. People used to suffer under cruel leadership and bad governance. But in the current book we see Christ Jesus coming to turn things up. He advocated that all people are the same in the eyes of God and therefore, everyone is supports to be treated fairly. He also reminds people to love one another.

Another amazing contrast between the two forms of covenants is their determination of human life. The former agreement pointed out that you could live by the works that you do. This means that you could access heaven through works. This changed with the coming of the current promise since you could now access heaven through faith. This shows that faith replaced works in a way, although works are still imperative.

From the bible, one can be able to discover loads of differences and similarities that exist between the two agreements. In the former agreement, there were many high priests. However, things has changed with the coming of Jesus Christ who is the direct link to God.
