The Virginia Common Core Implementation And Research Addresses The Declining Quality Of The Education System

By Coleen Torres

The existing course curriculum raises questions and research about the quality of the students passing the respective institutes. Based on these research results, Virginia Common Core curriculum is required to be implemented at the state level. Based on reports from employers or parents, American students end up getting low key jobs, as they are not able to compete with the world standards.

Mr. David Colman, the national system's architect, expressed his opinion in a gathering in Norfolk. He says that a research study all over the world shows that American students are taught too many subjects superficially. He suggested fewer, higher, and clearer standards.

The department of education in the State of Virginia is in the process of implementing this curriculum since the last 10 years. It is a significant move, and a lot is expected from students. Their fresh and innovative minds have the capability to accept challenging information. The course has already been accepted, and is incorporated by many schools.

Several complaints have been received from parents about the quality of the existing course. They feel that students are not taught about grammar or parts of speech in classes, but assigned to write articles with different writing styles and genres. This obviously raises questions about the teachers' intentions and the educational curriculum.

Not only is language a concern, but mathematical skills are also under doubt. Some other parents feel that the use of calculators from early stages of education has resulted in a poor understanding of the subject. They are also not encouraged to engage in critical thinking.

This calls for the necessity of a uniform educational course. In addition to uniformity, the new course offers in-depth understanding, improved reasoning power, application to varieties of situations, and thorough processing skills. It creates a horizon for critical thinking that can be applied elsewhere.

It is therefore importance to implement a uniform course curriculum across the country. The common core is designed to improve reasoning power, in-depth understanding, thorough processing, and application to varieties of situations. The scope for critical thinking increases with this learning, and children are able to apply their knowledge to any difficult situation.

In order to implement the courses designed for the common core, parents' participation and encouragement is essential. In case they differ with the common core curriculum, they can participate in thorough discussion with the implementing authorities, or join the discussion forums. However, before coming to a method, they need to be up-to-date with the existing teaching practices and the pros and cons.

In order to contribute to the implementation of the curriculum, parents need to upgrade their knowledge on the topic from reliable sources. Well-thought comments will help make the course stronger, and their children will be benefitted. Stray comments or biased views will only deter the process of generating a competitive curriculum.

The evidence of students getting into low key jobs after graduation only emphasizes the need for upgrades of the existing course. It reflects the urgent need for implementation of the new course that will help children graduate with better knowledge and critical skills. The sooner this happens, the better these children will fare in their futures.
