Tips For Choosing Good Maui Wedding Coordinators

By Mattie MacDonald

Not so long after your engagement, you will start perusing through wedding magazines and websites looking for vendors to hire. Some of these include the photographers, florists and even caterers. However, the most important wedding vendor has to be the coordinator. This is because he/she will be the one coordinating every event. It does not matter how competent your other vendors are, if you do not hire a good planner, they will not be able to deliver. Below are tips to help you find good Maui wedding coordinators.

The best starting point has to be word of mouth. Talk to your friends and relatives who celebrated their weddings in the recent past. Such people are always in better position to recommend to planners to other couples who are planning to celebrate their weddings in the near future. Apart from friends and relatives, you can also seek recommendations from your other vendors. They work under several coordinators in the course of their duty and will thus be able to recommend the good ones.

As usually, experience is also very important. In case of any challenge during the big day, you can be rest assured that an experienced coordinator will be able to handle it in a more professional manner than a novice. This is why you should always give preference to planners with more than five years in this field. In addition to this, the planner should also have presided over several other weddings in the past.

Whether you like it or not, service fee is another factor that you cannot avoid. Of course this usually varies based on a number of factors such as your location, time of the year and even the caliber of coordinator you are talking to. As such, you should always compare charges before making a choice. Comparing charges does not however mean that you should settle on the cheapest coordinator you can find. There is a reason why one coordinator would charge very low charges compared to what his/her colleagues are charging.

Wedding planners with license are always afraid to lose them. As such, such planners usually do everything within their powers to protect the license. This means that you are safer with a licensed coordinator than one who is not licensed. Ask your potential planner to show you his/her license and verify that it is valid for the current year.

You should also consider the planners character. Your wedding planner must always be courteous and also be suiting to your busy schedule. Do not hire a coordinator who is always busy to even meet with you. Communication with your planner will also be key especially during the planning. You must therefore look for a planner who will be available to discuss with you whenever necessary.

Exceptional planners are always booked several months in advance. Because of this, you will also need to book your planner in advance. Otherwise, you will find when all the good coordinators have been taken up.

With the above tips in mind, finding a good wedding planner should not always prove to be a thorn in the flesh. Once you identify a good planner, you must also insist on written contract. This will safeguard you from unscrupulous planners who do not keep their word.
