Learning From A Progressive Christian Blog

By Olive Pate

Most Christians believe the same thing when it comes to their faith. A progressive Christian blog tells you more about what one stands for, but it is slightly different from the average Christian and they may have something to say about this. There are many personal blogs supporting this movement as well as those by Christians who are obviously against the movement. One thing to remember about a Christian is Biblically, judgement should not be part of your everyday life.

This a movement which is fairly recent and it is growing all the time. Some people are moving away from traditional Christianity and some people head straight towards this. It is not Biblical or prayerful. One does not have a personal relationship with God. This is what appeals to a lot of people.

Because of these factors, it is a lot different from socializing from the traditional Christian who goes to church every Sunday and reads the Bible whenever he or gets the chance. They believe in one faith and pray with their families. Of course, this is the dedicated Christian that gets into a routine of praying and talking to God like this.

A Christian like this believes in God and Jesus and will not suddenly swap over to the Muslim faith where they only submit to their God. This is one aspect where the progressive Christian is different. They don't have a problem accepting all faiths. However, this can be a problem when they all mean different things. They believe that there are other ways to go through Jesus. According to the Bible there is only one way, so this is a new development.

For example, a lot of the Eastern faiths believe in God and not in Jesus, but this is the opposite in Christianity. One can't believe in both of these. There are different aspects involved in various religions, such as Judaism, which is very traditional and more religious in nature.

The average Christian is not supposed to judge faiths like Buddhism, for example. However one is supposed to follow your chosen faith and be dedicated to it. Progressive Christianity is saying that everything is true and therefore there are different Gods that you can follow. The true Christian only has one God that they are dedicating their life to and following like a friend. All Gods can't be right because they state different things in life.

One should follow a faith along with a basic guide. This movement doesn't go by the Bible and is more focused on social justice and the environment. It is still fairly new and one can see that they are experimenting with the way in which they handle certain things in the way in which they operate.

One should remember this when writing blogs because it can happen that folk lash out during these sorts of writings as they are not face to face with anyone. They should realize that anyone is able to read their blog and it can create chaos within the church and the community. As a Christian, it is important to remember what you stand for and what your principles are.
