Christians since the departure of Christ believed that Christ would come back during their lifetime. However, there are several prophesies that in the bible which points to His coming back. Interestingly, these prophesies are being fulfilled in this generation. This shows His return is imminent. The bible in Mathew 24:22 talks of days of wicked and that God saw it fit to shorten them so that the whole world does not get wiped away. Luke 21:7 talks of re-establishment of Jewish state as one of the pointers to His coming just as a bud sprouts from a branch. Israelites finally got a home after centuries of wars and deportations. This happened in 1948. Zechariah 12:2-3 also prophesied that the new state will be stronger than its enemies surrounding it.
Another fulfilled prophecy is the unification of the European countries. Daniel 2 and 7 speaks about empires that will rule the earth before the return of Christ. The last of this is Roman Empire that crumbled to the present day Europe. The holy bible I Revelation 17:12-14 says that there will be an attempt to unite the former Roman Empire.
The European nations joined hands and are moving towards a unified state. They have a monetary union, a parliament and everything else is coming into place. While other attempts to unite them were by use of force, this is a voluntary union preparing the way for the coming of Christ. The holy bible is not clear which nations will form the final union, but it states that they will be ten.
