Fresh And Unique Save The Dates Ideas

By Carolyn Wilson

Having identified the date for your big wedding, it is time to inform your guests. Since people do not sit idle waiting for invitations, you need to compete with other people and events. This requires Unique Save the Dates cards or items that make your invitation memorable. This is your opportunity to be personal and ensure that guests look forward to your big day.

Choose a uniquely shaped card. Shapes have a way of creating a lasting impression in the mind. Keep away from ordinary rectangular shapes and create a distinct card for your day. Make it easier to pin or place at a conspicuous place by including a hook, base or hanging thread. Make it as distinct as possible such that it stands out among other invitation cards.

Use a caricature on your card. Enlist the services of an excellent artist to provide a caricature of the wedding couple. The caricature should capture a celebratory mood which will be picked by the invited guests. The theme color of the caricature should rhyme with what you have chosen for your big day. Keep the caricature simple to avoid making it appear like a joke to your guests.

There is magic in using a vintage photograph. Weddings have been associated with vintage cars and a laughing couple. Have a vintage black and white wedding photo on your card. A classic car with flowers will perfectly present your mood. This is a distinct departure from the use of clip arts and words to pass the message. The picture should be professionally assimilated into the invitation.

Include a detachable sticker on the card. Stickers are used as reminders of important appointments in offices and homes. They are stuck on boards, computers, desks, walls, etc. Borrow this idea and include a sticker as part of your invitation. It makes the invitation conspicuous and memorable. Ensure that the sticker provides crucial information like the date and venue of your big day.

There is magic in art. Cards are common and are usually discarded after the wedding or easily forgotten before. However, artistic objects like embossed cups, bracelets, flags, sculptures, etc will remain in the memory of invited guests. It is impossible for a person to discard a flag or cup even after the wedding is over. Such objects remain with your guests and will come in handy when you are having your anniversary.

What of a multilingual invitation for your diverse friends? This idea works best when your circle includes people of different nationality and languages. Different languages enable you to accommodate all friends in a single card. Furthermore, everyone wants to feel personally invited to the occasion. The message may be printed on the same page using different languages. It saves on the cost of printing different cards for each group.

What of an audio or video? Technology has allowed people to make digital invitations. Maybe you have no addresses of most of your friends. It is also time consuming to drop cards from door to door. Consider inviting friends by attaching an audio or video to their social media handles. It gives them an opportunity to replay the invitation over and over. Some may also use it as a ringing tone on their phones.
