How To Start Bible Study Groups

By Lucia Weeks

The Scriptures are containing all things which people should be following for them to be living meaningful lives. These are usually containing virtues and values. Most parishes are speaking about the virtues and values through the pastors and the priests.

Sunday masses are not the only means that they can hear about these things. They can join Bible study in Chester CA groups. If their parishes in Chester, CA do not have these programs, enthusiasts can start these teams on their own. They will have to consider some factors when they will form their own study programs.

The individuals will have to determine the reasons why they will gather together to study the Bible. They may be new to their localities and would like to meet new friends. They may also want to deepen their faith in God and be closer to Him. Others may also be Theology students and would like participate in these activities for academic purposes.

They should be setting appropriate rules for the activity. For instance, they should see to it that they are observing confidentiality during the meeting. At certain points, a member will be sharing his personal story which he do not want to be sharing with others. He could be having an issue with his partner or his children. Whatever will be coming out during the gathering, they must be keeping it among themselves.

Schedules should be set by the persons for the meetings. These discussions can be set after their Sunday masses. Since most persons have daytime jobs, these gatherings might have to be scheduled at night so that people with daytime jobs can be accommodated. This way, these events can be attended by all members.

They have to agree on who will be the leaders of their groups. These leaders will be the ones to facilitate the meetings. They may also check the attendance of the members and keep records of them. They may want to rotate these responsibilities among themselves. For instance, certain individuals will lead the groups on Mondays, another for Tuesdays, and so forth.

These persons should be settling housekeeping issues. They should be agreeing on where they will be meeting up. These events will usually be happening in the homes of these individuals. They should be determining whose residence they will be going to for the discussion. They should also be assigning who will be providing the refreshments and the duration of the activity.

Before they begin these gatherings, they have to invoke the grace of God to be with them as they go through the activities. This way, they will be able to understand the Scriptures and relate them to their own lives. With God in their presence, they will also form tighter bonds with each other. After they finish these discussions, they may also have to say their thanks. Whatever they do, they have to put Him first.

After several gatherings, they will be able to know each other better. The individuals should look out after one another since they are already in the same circles. If they notice some people who are absent for several days already, they may need to contact them. This way, they can help these absentees get back on track.
