Some Great Indoor Team Building Activities

By Elena McDowell

Failures to meet deadlines, inefficient operations and delivery of inferior work are factors that results from lack of teamwork. In as much as this is the case, people in many working environments still overlook the aspect of team building in their work establishments. The inclusion of indoor team building activities, however, can be a fun way to bring different workers together, forge a new relationship, discuss different business ideas, discuss on how to work together for the success of a company or introducing a new personnel to the working group.

Even with that well said, companies, organizations and small and big business establishments still ignore the concept of coming together as a team. It is quite an annoyance never mind about your colleague in the workplace and yet you work in the same setting. This is not because of pride, but a problem from the administration side.

It can be your worst nightmare to work in a place where no colleague cares about the other member in the organization. This is not because they do not know one other but because they have never found time to spend together off work activities. Off-work indoor tasks should therefore act as an extra curriculum to get you interacting with the people you work with in the same setting.

Just as you played indoor games in school, you can play them in office, boardroom or the seminar room too. This may seem quite unusual and you may see it as awkward, time wasting and boring. Do not be too workaholic though, try them and you will realize that you not only miss the important part of it but also the fun that comes along with.

Most people in a work setting, however, have different views and feelings about such tasks. To some extent, some may think that they are awkward and a total waste of precious time. However, if you have not tried them out, you would not want to keep complaining because they will be very helpful in motivating you to work hard and enhance the productivity of your organization or company.

Blindfolding is one such game that could help spice up teamwork. Let members in a group eyes fold one or several members in the group. Place an item on a table, station the table in a challenging but safe spot, and ask the blindfolded persons to find the items. This task has teachable lessons perhaps describing the reason why you need the other person as a colleague at your place of work.

Just imagine about the people in your company that you have not met before and would like to know about. You are not sure about going out for a trip or a company lunch or outing where you get to know one another. Taking part in such tasks therefore, marks the start of getting to know those people you have always wanted to meet.

Balloon Keep Up is among indoor team building activities that teach how to solve problems through thinking. Of course, you have to think how you are going to stand to keep the balloon up without falling it. You definitely will need creative thinking to win this game, and the same applies when it comes to solving problems.
