Church Building Committee And Their Roles In The Community

By Beryl Dalton

Every successful venture that we have seen all started as plans. Planning is a fundamental need in organizing any kind of activity. Without it, problems and errors may happen along the way. Most of these can be addressed in advanced if a solid plan is created. This is the reason why there are individuals in charge of focusing on this matter.

In a community, one of the basic concern is the creation of a house of prayer. It is vital for the whole members to find a place where they can pray and socialize with their co believers. But the creation of this establishment is not that easy. Church building committee is created to address this issue.

They are composed of different people, usually around five to seven, each having their own specialty. These main members can hire their own subcommittees who can help them do their job. The creation of this group is geared to ensure that there is no money wasted in the construction and that it is created with the supervision of the head pastor or priest. Here are the committees major responsibilities.

Overseeing the project. The only means to evaluate whether everything is going according to planned is if somebody checks it regularly. This the main responsibility of the committee chairman. He or she heads the group and has the basic knowledge in every aspect of the venture.

Creates project design. After the planning, they will then proceed to creating a design. In here the architects and all the people involved in the manual building of the establishment will gather. Specifics such as the size of the infrastructure, the materials that will be used and the money needed for it will be discussed.

Handling of the budget. The design will reveal the necessary things to be bought. It is then the role of the finance committee to check the materials required for the construction, identify the needed expense and cross reference it to the money that they have at hand. They are the ones who inform the group if there is a need to raise more money to buy all the needed tools.

Updating the community. Also, they ensure that every member of the community is informed. The money used for the building is theirs after all. Any progress will be announced. Also, if there are events that requires the cooperation of the members to forward the project, the committee ensures that they are well relayed.

Funding. There are times when the current money that they have is not enough to fund every expense. This is where fund raising comes in. A separate person is in charge of this and thinks of ways to get funding for the project. It could be a concert for a cause, an exhibit, and any other projects that the community can find helpful.

They head the necessary improvements in your house of prayer. This does not mean though that they can do it all by themselves. Get involved in activities that can help forward their cause. As a member of the community, your can do a lot. Be service and look for opportunities where you can use your skills to help them.
