Reading to your child from an early age offers a lot of benefits on different levels. From an education perspective, research shows that kids who love and enjoy books with their carers or parents tend to have larger vocabularies, better language comprehension and higher cognitive skills than those who have never been introduced to books and reading at home.

Reading stories to your lids open up all possibilities for them to familiarize with new rhythms, sounds and words. They will also be introduced to new topics. Listening to stories help them enhance or develop their imaginations and may carry them to a new world. It is also helpful for them to introduce in the real and fantasy world, to different characters and animals found on earth. The knowledge can be obtained by reading and if you want them to be smart, they need to acquire their love for reading.

To enjoy stories with your child, you must read every day. Make this habit as part of your daily routine. Bed time stories are best but over breakfast is better than nothing. Show your children how much enjoyment you get out of books. Read close by while playing in the garden and have a book beside your bed.

You can also tell them what you need to read and the language used in every book. You can tell them everything about animals, fantasy, sea creatures and more. If you want to make your library, you do not have to spend more money. There are many second hand stores and charity stores that are good sources of childrens books you are looking for.

If your child is not interested you have selected, you would not also feel that it is a waste of money. It is worth checking out some supermarkets in your locality at a reasonable price or even from online dealers who often offers good deal of childrens book.

Keep in mind that once you read, it should be pleasurable so choose a time when your child is receptive to listening rather than forcing a book on then when they are not in the mood. The ideal time is at bedtime so making a bedtime routine as early as possible is essential. Of course, make sure that you are in the mood to read. You have to show enjoyment and enthusiasm to get positive benefit from the experience.

But if you are not enjoying, it will also reflect to the tone or manner of your voice. On the other hand, children especially the toddlers are attracted to bright textures and colors or mirror where they can see their own faces. So, although they are still babies, this would be a good start to make them interested.

It is best to choose the right title and should be aware of a lengthy story. Young children easily get bored and will struggle a lot and cope with a long story. You should not also persevere attention if you feel that they have lost their attention. So, just come back if they are in good mood.
