The Depths Of Your Heart

By Evan Sanders

The depths of your heart can be a pretty pure place to go. I used to believe it's a place of intense misunderstanding and where the past lived, but I have come to find that it's actually a place of pureness.

These thoughts and emotions that I feel within have been directly claimed by others to be intense and for some unknown reason I have experienced some variety of negativity with this word. Maybe it's the way I am taking it? Maybe it's the way I interpret that word? Nevertheless, I am absolutely starting to begin to find that this emotional force about life is essentially simplicity manifesting itself.

I am hooking up and linking into the rawness of some of these emotions that I have never fully experienced before. Maybe that's the idea right there - fully experiencing emotions.

When we shut ourselves off from experiencing negative feelings we also shut ourselves off from experiencing the wide array of positive ones also. The midst of your heart can be a place of safety where you can go to understand the truths about yourself instead of a place you've got to be frightened of. In this place, there exist lessons of love and enthusiasm. Why would you want to go there?

I think we are terrified of this place because we have experienced how wild and intense some of these feelings we go through are and that scares the hell out of us. For some reason, we are taught to keep a lid on ourselves and not stray too far outside the middle because that's the secure place to play. No, I'd rather climb dangerous trees and travel into unknown lands than play it conservatively.

That game is not for me...the playing it safe game in life.

The depths of your heart can be a place where you go to understand the intricacies and perplexities of this life. There are so many things that we don't understand about what is going on in this world just because we can't see them. Sometimes, you've got to run on faith. You've got to be pleased to put your feet forward, one after the next directly into the dense mist and function on that blind faith. Will it be scary? You can bet your money on it. Will it be worth it? Oh absolutely. Time and time again you must travel into your heart to find your true self and start to function in a way that is actually connected and present with the rest of the world. If you can try that, there is no cap on what you'll become.

So what will it be today?
