Will There Be A Muslim Antichrist

By Lisa Williamson

Muslims and Christians have been battling about the events before the final judgment. It is the events proceeding this day that has put the two religions at a war path. Reading the bible alongside the Koran has led people to suggest that there will be a Muslim antichrist. This is a debate that has kept theologians busy as they try to solve the puzzle. It is upon individuals to make their own conclusions.

The Koran points out that at some point, a prophet shall return. The circumstances of his return are just before judgment day. The prophet to return is the twelfth imam who is said to have disappeared while he was still young. His disappearance is linked to persecution that target Muslims at the time. This is the scripture that is interpreted to represent the beast for Christians.

In the bible, the antichrist is said to rule before judgment comes upon the earth. The relevant reading for this is the fourth verse of chapter thirteen in the book of Revelations. His promise of peace to Israel for seven years will herald the reign of the beast. Before this period of peace has lapsed, the treaty will be broken and anarchy will reign.

The collapse of the promise of peace to Israel will signal the end of times. The said beast will require recognition as God and rule as a dictator. These signs should be observed closely by Christians because they indicate the end of time. It is the coincidences in the return of this twelfth Islamic imam and the beast just before judgment that lead to the conclusion.

The mention of Roman Empire by Daniel complicates what seemed like clear evidence. Before judgment befalls mankind, the empire must be rebuilt. The ruler will be recognized for mastering intrigues, demanding recognition as God and widespread deceit. The attributes given to the beast in Revelations are similar. The mention of Roman Empire seems to complicate the rather straightforward reading.

Away from the scriptures, there are some readings that distant Muslims from the claim. The religion is dominated by Arabs while the Roman Empire is for Europeans. Further, the hostility between Israel and Muslims is unlikely to lead to a truce. This makes it unlikely for the seven years of peace to happen should this beast be Muslim. The only possible thing would be destruction of Israel.

The theory of the beast has attracted a lot of speculations and construction. It is clear that only a person who would be accepted by Muslims and Jews would cause such a scenario to unfold. It means that such a person will be a half cast between a Muslim and Jew. To Muslims, such a person would be the lost Imam while Jews would consider him as their own.

The mystery of the antichrist being Muslim remains a construction of cross reading the bible and the Koran. Christians are advised to remain cautious and test anyone who comes in the name of the Father. The only way to identify the true leaders is if they confess Christ as the Lord.
