It is because he knew that Jesus is gentle, humble in heart and that His yoke is easy, and His burden is light. Jesus said that of you do not forgive people who wrong against you, the father in heaven would not forgive your sins also. Later in the Bible, the term forgiveness appears so many times and it becomes a great aspect that makes people to live in peace and love each other.
You need to follow the example of Christ when you are teaching people how to forgive. A good pastor does not tell people how bad they are when they do not forgive people who wrong them. Instead, he or she helps people see the meaning, the importance and the value of forgiveness, hence giving them a reason to forgive men their sins.
